Places can feel close to one another without sharing the same appearance

The project collects short videos of everyday places that hold personal meaning for people around the world. These places do not have to be landmarks, beautiful views, or objectively significant sites. They can be ordinary, changing, connected to memory, shaped by routine, or meaningful in a way that is difficult to explain.
Through a mobile receiving station in Berlin, the submitted places are projected into public space. In this way, personal places from different parts of the world enter into relation with a specific urban context in Berlin.

Would you like to take part?

Choose a place in your city or everyday surroundings that feels personal to you. It could be a street corner, a path, a square, an interior space, a view from a window, a place in transition, or somewhere connected to memory, routine, change, or a sense of attachment.

The mobile receiving station in Berlin connects places by projecting one location onto another, creating a shared space in which different places can be experienced simultaneously.
The project comes from the observation that cities and spaces are often understood through planning, function, or general categories. The individual meanings people attach to their surroundings often remain invisible.
Elsewhere, Like Here tries to give space to these personal layers of meaning. By bringing distant places into relation with a concrete site in Berlin, the project invites reflection on city, space, community, change, simultaneity, coexistence, and global connectedness.
